The reliability and quality of the hard-chine steel hulls built by Marcel Zijlmans and his team have earned the yard an excellent reputation. Their knowledge of constructing steel yachts was built up over the years, and all yachts are ready to explore a wide range of sailing regions while delivering an optimal performance. Via close contacts with clients and attention to their needs, Zijlmans constantly adds new technical and comfort-based innovations to its products. As a result, these Dutch quality yachts continue to be prime examples of modern technology.
Leading
Marcel Zijlmans started his one-man business in building steel hulls for motoryachts in 1989. At the time, the technical installations and panelling were realised at other companies under Zijlmans’ close supervision. The result each time was a yacht as intended by Zijlmans, and sold under his brand name. The line of Eagle yachts was especially popular among avid sailors, with over 100 of them being sold over the years. In 1996, the yard started building and finishing entire yachts in-house and expanded its operations to a total surface area of around 4,500 m² including an interior shed, two assembly sheds, and a 32-tonnes boat lift. Zijlmans also employed a team of highly-trained professionals and, in addition to new builds, his yard extended its reach into refits, maintenance and storage.
Custom
Today Zijlmans Jachtbouw builds motoryachts of between 10 and 22 metres in length, including customised yachts such as the 20-metre Triqual 65. Currently, the yard is working on the refit of a 26-metre yacht, which requires a new aluminium superstructure with an attractive, sleek design on its steel hull (see image below). The 25th anniversary of this successful yard is being celebrated with the introduction of a new Eagle 1500, a design that combines fresh lines with the proven Zijlmans quality and performance.
