RotorSwing: Magnus formula for Magnificent Effect
Something that Heinrich Gustav Magnus could never even have imagined 175 years ago. That, based on the Magnus Effect, DMS would, in the form of RotorSwing, develop the first fully electrically driven roll damping system.
Rotating cylinders generate – subject to the direction of rotation – an up or downward pressure providing optimal reduction of the rolling motion. Not only whilst cruising but also at zero speed. The rotors, set at an angle of 45°, provide maximum roll damping up to 18 knots. At higher speeds, they can be retracted against the hull. With flexible installation options, the DMS rotor system is the ideal retrofit solution. Fully installed in just 14 days.
AntiRoll: Technical innovation for maximum cruising comfort
AntiRoll has been specifically developed by DMS for superyachts. An advanced roll damping system. Innovative and extremely functional. Thanks, in particular, to the unique, dual-axis fin stabilizer, which rotates whilst sailing and flaps at zero speed, it provides optimal stabilization at both high speed and anchor. The high-aspect fins reduce resistance by 50-75%. The flapping motion of the fins generates a greater lifting force. The fins can be retracted in to the hull, making it ideal for sailing yachts as well. AntiRoll is equipped with intelligent hybrid drive systems resulting in relatively low power requirements. Extensive testing by Marin has unequivocally demonstrated that AntiRoll works better than traditional fin systems. According to the judges, the rightful winner of the Maritime Innovation Award 2014.
