To open the International Paris Boat Show, the 6th Nautic SUP Paris Crossing is, more than ever before, the discipline’s seminal meet. Indeed, in 2015, the number of entries in this already legendary Paris crossing has been extended to 500! However, this does not mean you can take your time to register: the 400 places up for grabs last year were all snapped up in under 8 hour.
So 500 is the maximum number of competitors who will be able to take the start of this 2015 edition and they will be split between the Pro and Leisure category. On the morning of Sunday 6 December, the first race will set off as usual from alongside the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (National Library of France) and finish at the Javel-Bas quayside. At that point, the competitors will sample the delights of a brunch at Microsoft, a loyal partner of the event, before making for Hall 1 at the Nautic to compete in a second race on an indoor pool that has been further extended this year.
For this latest edition those competing in the Leisure category will continue their bid for supremacy in a 2nd race, which comprises duels of around thirty seconds to determine the final podium. However, for the Pro category the rule has evolved since it’s a “France against the rest of the world” relay, which will serve as justice of the peace. Each of the teams will comprise 10 competitors involving those who ranked best in the morning race. Visitors to the Nautic will be able to witness a unique competition with the pride of the world’s SUP protagonists battling it out in the warmth of Paris’ Porte de Versailles venue…
The Nautic and the Nautic SUP Paris Crossing share the values and the objectives of the COP21 (the UN’s Climate Change Conference), which is the major meeting of late 2015. In addition to conferences, exhibitions and entertainment focusing on environmental themes, the Nautic SUP Paris Crossing will have its course mapped out by a mark in the colours of the Océan&Climat (Ocean&Climate) platform. Competitors will have to pass through a gate set level with the TARA Expéditions ship, the now famous yacht keeping guard over our planet, which will be moored near the Alexandre III bridge from 10 November. A nice way for the 500 riders in the race to pay tribute to the work of all the sailors and scientists who strive to understand and protect our marine environment.
